Your Mission
As a CAD Designer, you’ll thrive in a fast-paced Engineer to Order environment, tackling complex design challenges. Your work will be at the forefront of our product development, and you’ll frequently engage with application engineers and manufacturing teams to enhance processes and resolve issues. You’ll also play a vital role in maintaining and supporting the master data within our ERP system, ensuring everything runs smoothly. To succeed in this role, a solid foundation in standard drafting practices and the tools for creating precise manufacturing drawings is essential. Additionally, a strong understanding of machine tool capabilities will empower you to deliver exceptional results.
How you will make a difference
- Analyzes engineering sketches, specifications and related data and drawings to determine design factors such as size, shape, and arrangement of parts.
- Create Production ready drawings and supporting 3d solid models while also; checking dimension of parts, materials to be used, relation of one part to another, and relation of various parts to whole structure or project.
- Ensures product design standards are adhered to by following published internal Standards as well as common international standards, such as ISO or ANSI.
- Modifies product designs to correct operating deficiencies or to reduce production problems.
- Utilizes knowledge of various machines, engineering practices, mathematics, manufacturing materials, and other physical sciences to complete drawings.
- Maintain and support the use of our ERP system by ensuring complete and accurate Bills of Materials, Documents, and Material classification
- Maintain and support the use of our globally used PDM system to ensure accurate product data is available worldwide
- Contribute to our local design documentation by updating and creating new content in our Wiki Pages
What you should be good at
- An AA/AS or equivalent from 2 year college or technical school with at least 2 years practical design experience, Or Technical or vocation program completion with focus in design and drafting with at least 2 years practical design experience
- A BS in Mechanical Engineering or similar field, Or 3-5 years practical Design Experience
- Must have experience with 3D modeling software such as Inventor, Solidworks, or Creo
- Must be able to read and interpret standard Engineering drawings
- Must be able to create multi-view drawings with Dimension and tolerancing in accordance with modern design practice and standards
- Basic technical skills in Microsoft office tools: Word, Excel, PowerPoint
- Basic Knowledge of modern Machine tools and process. Such as Milling Machines and Lathes
- Experience in manufacturing parts modeling and design preferred
- Must be able to Identify and resolve problems in a timely manner; Gathers and analyzes information skillfully; Works well in group problem solving situations
- Autodesk Inventor Certification a plus
- Previous experience with Autodesk Vault a Plus
- Previous Experience working within ERP systems such as SAP
