Your Mission

Are you an experienced machinist with a passion for precision work? Do you have a strong understanding of reciprocating compressor components and hands-on expertise in manual machining? If so, we want you on our team!

As a Manual Machinist, you'll play a crucial role in machining, repairing, and fabricating compressor components with precision and skill. Your expertise in turning, milling, and grinding will ensure the performance and reliability of essential equipment.

How you will make a difference

  • Precision machining on engine lathes, vertical lathes and horizontal boring mills.
  • Blueprint Interpretation.
  • Quality Assurance: Inspect parts using micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, and other precision measuring tools to ensure adherence to tolerances.
  • Efficiency & Optimization: Provide feedback on equipment, tooling, and fixtures to minimize setup time and reduce scrap/rework.
  • Collaboration & Problem-Solving: Work closely with production Supervisors and quality teams to improve efficiency, cost, and safety.

What you should be good at

Technical Expertise

  • 5-10+ years of experience in setting up and operating manual machines in a fast-paced environment (engine lathes, vertical lathes and horizontal boring mills).
  • Ability to diagnose tool wear by visual inspection or process sound.
  • Strong understanding of reciprocating compressor components and machining (preferred).
  • Strong math skills to calculate dimensions and tolerances.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Ability to read and comprehend work instructions, engineering memos, and material data sheets.
  • Clear communication in English, with the ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
  • Strong reasoning skills to troubleshoot and resolve machining issues.

 

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Experience in the oil and gas industry or with reciprocating compressors is a plus.
  • This is a hands-on role requiring frequent standing, walking, and occasional lifting (up to 50 lbs).
  • Must be flexible to work overtime, 12-hour shifts, and weekends based on production needs.
