Production Planner - Manufacturing and Service

Your Mission

Join HOERBIGER Service Inc. as a Production Planner in our Fast Response Cell (FRC) in Houston, TX.  The FRC provides quick turnaround for essential compressor parts and related services for our customers in the oil and gas industry. The FRC supports our customers with urgent, short-cycle manufacturing and supply needs across North America.

In this high-visibility role, you will own day-to-day production planning, supplier coordination, and lead-time execution for FRC workstreams. Your ability to balance urgency, capacity, and feasibility will directly impact customer satisfaction, delivery performance, and operational efficiency.

How you will make a difference

  • Own the planning, sequencing, and execution of FRC production orders across multiple workstreams, managing 60–100+ active orders at any given time.
  • Serve as the primary planning point of contact for internal stakeholders, ensuring clear, timely, and professional communication regarding feasibility, lead-times, and order status.
  • Determine the appropriate manufacturing route (FRC build, subcontractor, or external supplier) based on urgency, capacity, material availability, and lead-time requirements.
  • Source and manage suppliers, including capability assessment and negotiation of pricing and commercial terms, to support reliable and cost-effective production execution
  • Accurately create, manage, and execute production orders, subcontract POs, and stock transfer orders in SAP to support timely delivery.
  • Coordinate closely with engineering to confirm requirements, drawings, specifications, substitutions, and rework needs.
  • Collaborate with shop personnel to align production schedules with machine capability, labor availability, and capacity constraints.
  • Process and track purchase orders for raw material, subcontracted labor, and external services, following up proactively to prevent delays.
  • Monitor open production orders daily, anticipate risks, and drive issue resolution across vendors, supply chain, logistics, and customer service.
  • Apply working knowledge of raw materials, machining processes, drawings, and material test reports to ensure compliance with specifications.
  • Support customer service and sales teams by providing accurate lead-time, feasibility, and execution input to enable effective quoting and order management.
  • Maintain accurate master data and transactional integrity within SAP to support reporting, cost visibility, and future process improvements.

What you should be good at

  • Minimum of one year of experience in production planning (experience in a Microsoft Project Environment preferred), order management, operations execution, or supply chain coordination within an industrial or manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes (experience in a jobbing environment preferred), raw materials, drawings, bills of material, purchasing, inventory, and MRP concepts.
  • Proven experience in strategic supplier management, including vendor sourcing, capability assessment, and negotiation of pricing and terms.
  • Mechanical aptitude and the ability to understand machining capabilities (CNC Programming, Tooling and Routing), materials, and production constraints.
  • Excellent technical skills.  Experience working with SAP (PP, MM, SD modules preferred); comfort executing and managing transactions in an ERP system.  Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook). Experience using Microsoft Project for tracking and analysis is helpful.
  • Strong organizational, prioritization, and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • High school diploma required; equivalent work experience valued. Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Supply Chain, or a related field preferred.
  • Willingness to work overtime as needed to support urgent customer and operational requirements.

What you can look forward to

  • A fast-paced, customer-facing role at HOERBIGER’s flagship North America service center.
  • Competitive compensation.   This is a salaried exempt position with a starting pay range from $75,000 - $90,000 per year. Pay will be based on qualifications and experience.
  • Comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision, disability, and life insurance.  Paid time off program with vacation, sick leave, parental leave, and 12 holidays annually (including 2 floaters).
  • A 401(k)-retirement plan with company matching, plus tuition reimbursement and financial wellness support.
  • Global career growth opportunities in a culture that values innovation, fairness, and professional development.
