Reciprocating Compressor Specialist

Your Mission

We are seeking an experienced Reciprocating Compressor Specialist to join our growing service and repair team. This role will serve as the shop's technical expert for reciprocating compressor repairs, overhauls, troubleshooting, and inspections. The successful candidate will work closely with shop personnel, engineering, customer service, and management to ensure repairs are completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards.

 

This position is intended for a highly experienced compressor professional who can provide technical guidance, share industry knowledge, and help develop the next generation of compressor mechanics. As the individual becomes familiar with our systems, procedures, and team, there will be opportunities for increased leadership responsibilities and career growth.

How you will make a difference

  • Serve as the technical specialist and primary resource for reciprocating compressor repairs and overhauls.
  • Assemble, disassemble, inspect, troubleshoot, and repair reciprocating compressors and related components.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to mechanics and shop personnel.
  • Support root cause analysis, repair recommendations, and troubleshooting efforts.
  • Work collaboratively with Engineering, Customer Service, Purchasing, and Operations to ensure successful project execution.
  • Ensure service documentation, inspection reports, and repair photographs are accurately entered into company systems.
  • Assist with identifying, tagging, labeling, and tracking parts throughout the repair process.
  • Promote safe work practices and adherence to company quality standards.
  • Share industry knowledge and best practices to help strengthen the overall capabilities of the shop team.

What you should be good at

  • Minimum of 15-20 years combined shop and field experience working with reciprocating compressors.
  • Extensive experience with compressor teardown, inspection, troubleshooting, repair, and reassembly.
  • Strong understanding of compressor components, measurements, clearances, and repair practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with employees at all levels of the organization, including shop personnel, engineering, customer service, management, and customers.
  • Strong commitment to workplace safety, quality, and accountability.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, manuals, and specifications.
  • Experience with Ariel, Dresser-Rand, Cooper-Bessemer, Clark, Ingersoll Rand, Worthington, and similar reciprocating compressor equipment preferred.
