Manual Machinist

This role plays a key part in machining, repairing, and fabricating reciprocating compressor components that are critical to the reliability of our customers’ operations.

What You Will Do
• Perform precision machining on engine lathes, vertical lathes, and horizontal boring mills
• Machine, repair, and fabricate reciprocating compressor components
• Interpret engineering drawings and blueprints
• Inspect parts using micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, and precision measuring tools
• Maintain tight tolerances and high quality standards
• Identify tool wear and machining issues through visual inspection and machine feedback
• Provide feedback on tooling, setups, and fixtures to improve efficiency and reduce rework
• Work closely with supervisors and quality teams to ensure production, safety, and quality targets are met.
What You Bring
Technical Skills
• 5–10+ years of experience operating manual machining equipment
• Experience with engine lathes, vertical lathes, or horizontal boring mills
• Strong blueprint reading and machining math skills
• Ability to hold tight tolerances and produce precision components
• Understanding of reciprocating compressor components preferred
• Experience in oil & gas or rotating equipment industries is a strong plus
• Basic computer skills for documentation and job tracking
Communication & Problem Solving
• Ability to read work instructions, engineering notes, and technical documentation
• Strong troubleshooting skills and mechanical reasoning
• Clear communication and teamwork in a production environment
Education & Experience
• High school diploma or GED required
• Technical training in machining or machine shop technology preferred
Work Environment
• Hands-on shop environment
• Frequent standing, walking, and lifting up to 50 lbs
• Flexibility to work overtime, 12-hour shifts, or weekends based on production needs
