Manufacturing - Sales Engineer

Your Mission

As a Sales Engineer on the Customer Experience Team, you’ll be the technical backbone of a customer-obsessed organization. You’ll combine deep product knowledge with a passion for service to ensure every customer interaction is smooth, consultative, and solutions oriented. From initial inquiry to post-sales support, you’ll guide customers through complex technical decisions with clarity, empathy, and precision. The Sales Engineer works closely with Inside Sales and Customer Service to bridge technical accuracy with customer engagement. This role replaces the former Application Engineer position, expanding its focus beyond technical support to include proactive sales enablement, customer consultation, and collaboration with the field sales team.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives at the intersection of engineering and human connection — someone who can translate technical complexity into customer confidence and who sees every challenge as an opportunity to elevate the customer journey. This position offers a path toward Senior Sales Engineer, Key Account Management, or Sales Management roles for those who demonstrate technical mastery and customer leadership.

How you will make a difference

  • Technical Consultation: Serve as a trusted advisor to customers and internal teams, helping identify the right-fit technical solutions based on the needs of the rotary union or slip ring application and the customer’s expected performance goals.
  • Sales Enablement: Collaborate with Inside Sales Representatives and Customer Service Representative to prepare and follow up on sales quotations and CS inbox inquiries, ensuring technical requirements are fully addressed.
  • Cross-Functional Alignment: Partner with Engineering, Operations, and Product Management to ensure manufacturability, performance, and lead time all align well with customer expectations.
  • Customer Journey Ownership: Guide customers through the technical aspects of the sales cycle — from consideration to post-purchase support — ensuring a frictionless experience.
  • Sales Partnership: Collaborate closely with the North American Sales team to identify new opportunities, refine solutions, and strengthen customer relationships.
  • Product Expertise: Maintain deep knowledge of Deublin products and their applications across a wide array of industries including Plastics, Rubber, Food Processing, Aerospace & Defense, Semiconductor, Wind, Machine Tool, Oil & Gas, Paper, Corrugating, Directional Drilling, Steel, and even more.
  • Warranty & Repair Support: Evaluate warranty claims and repair requests with technical rigor and customer empathy, ensuring clear communication and resolution.
  • CRM & Documentation: Diligently log all technical interactions and support activities in CRM to ensure visibility, alignment, and continuous improvement.

What you should be good at

  • Entrepreneurial Spirit – We need a self-starter in this role. A Sales Engineer at Deublin is resourceful, driven, and energized by opportunity. They take initiative, think creatively, and act with urgency. They’re not just technical support, they’re opportunity-makers. We need someone who thrives in opportunity, adapts quickly, and pursues growth with grit and optimism equally balanced with dignity and respect. This role demands ownership, hustle, and a passion for building strong customer relationships.
  • Project Management – We want an advocate for the voice of the customer. Experience managing customer-facing technical projects and advocating for customer needs across internal teams is strongly preferred.
  • Software, Systems & Tools Proficiency – Moderate to advanced expertise with Microsoft Office is expected; experience using IFS, IFS CRM, or any other CRM platforms is a massive plus.
  • Passion & Purpose – A zeal for creating excellent customer experiences and a desire to grow in a collaborative, purpose-driven team. If you are energized by growth and grounded in respect, we want to meet you!
  • Education Bachelor’s degree (B.A./B.S.) in Engineering or a related technical field is required. Mechanical or electrical background preferred.
  • Experience 2+ years in Sales Engineering, Technical Support, or Application Engineering (full-time employment or internship). Experience in a B2B or manufacturing setting is preferred.

What you can look forward to

  1. Comprehensive Benefits: 401(k) plan with matching contributions, health insurance (medical, dental, vision), FSA and HSA options.  Generous PTO and paid holidays for a healthy work-life balance.
  2. Professional Development: Educational assistance programs and opportunities for career growth.
  3. Supportive Environment: A stable, team-based culture that values collaboration and innovation.
  4. Inclusive Workplace: Join a company committed to equity, diversity, and inclusion, fostering a culture of belonging.
  5. Compensation: This is a salaried exempt position with a pay range from $73,006 - $109,510 per year. Pay will be based on qualifications and experience.
  6. Location: This role will work from the Deublin Company global headquarters in Waukegan, IL. The role will be on site, with the opportunity to expand to 3 days onsite / 2 days work from home, based on performance, and following a 90-day introductory period.
  7. Travel: 10-20% travel. Some visits to the field with Key Account Managers to troubleshoot applications or support the sales effort in person are expected.
