Your Mission

As Market Manager, you will lead the development and execution of IEP’s strategy for explosion protection solutions in Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and across the battery lifecycle, including manufacturing, integration, second life, and end-of-life handling. This is a cross-functional role combining market development, technical leadership, and customer engagement to position IEP as a safety solutions leader in the lithium-ion ecosystem.

How you will make a difference

• Strategy/Business Development: Drive market strategy and business development for explosion protection solutions across the battery lifecycle.
• Relationship Building:  Identify opportunities and build relationships with OEMs, EPCs, integrators, and facility operators in energy storage, battery manufacturing, repurposing, and battery end-of-life management.
• Resource/SME:  Serve as the subject matter expert on thermal runaway, pressure relief, and explosion risk mitigation across various battery lifecycle applications.
• Collaboration:  Work with engineering and product development to define solution requirements, support customization, and validate performance.
• Compliance:  Ensure compliance with relevant safety standards and regulations (e.g., NFPA 68, UL 9540A, NFPA 855, IFC).
• Track and Analyze: Monitor industry trends, regulatory developments, and technological advancements across the battery lifecycle.
• Sales Support: Support sales activities, proposals, and technical consultations for target applications; attend trade shows, conferences, and technical forums.
• Knowledge Sharing:  Conduct training sessions for internal teams, partners, and customers.

What you should be good at

• Minimum five years experience in explosion protection, battery energy storage, or related battery lifecycle segments
• Strong understanding of lithium-ion battery hazards and explosion protection technologies
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, or Fire Protection Engineering or equivalent (MBA or advanced degree is a plus)
• Market development and customer engagement experience preferred
• Familiarity with vent sizing, isolation, suppression, and mitigation techniques (CFD/FEA a plus)
• Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
• Willing and able to travel up to 50% (domestic and international)

• Location:  Position will train at Headquarters (Marlborough, MA) and then can be Remote after training period.  Successful candidate should reside in Austin/Houston or Boston area.
