Design Engineer - Manufacturing Process Systems

Your Mission

The Design Engineer function plays a critical role in IEP’s core operations, responsible for both creating innovative system designs and providing ongoing support for the existing installed base. In this capacity, the engineer ensures that each system is carefully crafted to meet both technical specifications and customer needs, optimizing performance and reliability. The Design Engineer also collaborates closely with other teams over the full project lifecycle to ensure seamless integration of the system.

 

This position will work in the office daily for the first six months and then will transition to Hybrid, with three days in office and two remote.  Position requires up to 25% travel (Canada/US/Mexico) to customer locations and possible (infrequent) trips to Europe. 

 

How you will make a difference

  • Build expertise in explosion protection design while improving the safety of customer manufacturing operations
  • Gain in-depth knowledge of various powder manufacturing processes and their associated hazards
  • Design custom system drawings and manuals tailored to each customer’s unique application
  • Assist in developing detailed Bills of Materials by analyzing field data and manufacturing processes
  • Lead pre-installation meetings at customer job sites, focusing on key installation requirements to  optimal system reliability
  • Collaborate with teams to ensure installation processes align with safety standards and operational goals

What you should be good at

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering required (Mechanical preferred)
  • Minimum two years’ experience in application engineering or similar technical/design role
  • Mechanical aptitude with equipment structures and assembly
  • Understanding of basic circuits and electrical installation
  • Familiarity with reading Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams, mechanical drawings, and electrical schematics
  • Attention to detail, communication, organization skills
  • AutoCAD experience preferred
  • Must be able to travel (fly/drive) in Canada/US/Mexico; 25%.  Must have valid Driver license.
