Senior Technician - Combustion Research Test Center

Your Mission

HOERBIGER Safety Solutions/IEP Technologies (IEP) is seeking a Senior Technician to join our Combustion Research Center team. The role involves planning, scheduling, and conducting test activities under supervision, focusing on characterizing combustion properties of materials or equipment.  Test activities include handling explosives, a variety of combustible materials (including dusts, liquids, gases, smoking materials), compressed gases and test equipment.  

 

Training will be provided.  The candidate must be able to be cleared by ATF and pass a CORI check.  Also, after training, apply and pass the test for Massachusetts Blaster’s license.  Local candidates encouraged to apply; position works on site and relocation benefits are not offered for this position.
 

How you will make a difference

  • Test scheduling, set up, preparation, execution and cleanup.
  • Data recording and other record keeping.
  • Instrumentation preparation and troubleshooting.
  • Data Acquisition system set up, data collection, storage, and transmittal.
  • Filling and pressurization of test cylinders.
  • Maintenance and repair of test equipment, designing and building custom equipment.
     

What you should be good at

  • Minimum five years' experience with electro-mechanical test equipment and integration with PC hardware/software.
  • Demonstrated ability to read mechanical prints and electrical diagrams.
  • Basic skills with common shop tools and electronic instruments such as multi-meters and data acquisition equipment.
  • Skill with computers, including familiarity with Microsoft Excel, Word and National Instruments LabVIEW.
  • Excellent skills related to time management, problem solving, accountability, critical thinking.
  • Good communicator, proven experience working in a team environment.
