Your Mission
Responsible for planning, reporting, managing and directing all manufacturing processing and activities for the high-speed, precision machining of steel and polymer components in a job shop environment. Includes responsibility of all Compression Molding processing and activities. Includes support functions as may be assigned. Achieve planned production results within established manufacturing guidelines and budget. Will teach and maintain current ISO 9001-2008 quality standards in all areas. Achieve on-time-delivery commitments to our customers. Must be a driver of continuous improvement in production machining and plant operations.
How you will make a difference
- In conjunction with the Management Team, support and participate in the development and formulation of short-term and mid-range planning of goals and operational objectives to achieve specific Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) and other economic performance measurements, as well as develop policies, programs, and other operating procedures and objectives.
- Monitor, support and improve upon production operations through perusal of reports, staff meetings, observation and personal interaction to maximize coordination and integration of work flow, timely production, budgetary performance, schedules, and maximum utilization of personnel, skills, machines, equipment and facilities.
- Research, gather information and prepare reports as required.
- Participate in and provide input on major projects and expenditures, e.g., acquisition and installation of capital equipment, major repairs and overhauls, plant layout changes, etc., to attain greatest efficiencies and maximum return on investments.
- Work closely with Senior Management, Supervisors and Shop Floor Personnel to maintain open communications on all activities, actions, programs, decisions and policy.
- Administer Company work rules, programs and policies in a fair and impartial manner.
- Supervise and coordinate the various programs essential to manufacturing procedures, e.g. training, safety, quality, housekeeping, work simplification, cost reduction, wage and salary recommendation, plant protection and security, etc.
- Directly and through subordinates staff and maintain a trained, efficient and safe workforce to meet production and delivery requirements.
- With the support of the Human Resources Department, will be responsible for the skill assessments and selection of staff to fill department vacancies.
- Plan and determine manpower requirements based on forecasts and administer such programs in conjunction with Managerial and Staff Service personnel.
- Through contacts with educational institutions, societies, equipment manufacturer’s et al., keep abreast of new developments in manufacturing practices, equipment, processes, etc.

Education Requirements: Requires a Bachelors Degree in Industrial Management or Engineering and a minimum of five years in supervisory and managerial positions plus three to five years as Manufacturing or Plant Manager in a Machining and/or Polymer Molding environment if employed by other than a Hoerbiger affiliated business unit.
Experience Requirements:
The Production Manager must have prior working knowledge/experience in the following operations skill sets:
- Visual metrics, operation continuous monitoring processes
- Lean initiatives, improvement processes
- Working knowledge of ISO 9001-2008
- Safety management
- Basic shop floor cost management (direct, indirect, gross margin)
- Capital Expenditures
Language Skills
Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. Bi-lingual (English-Spanish) helpful.
Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Spreadsheet software and MS Office Package Word Processing software. Basic experience and skills in working with ERP systems like SAP is a plus.
