Key Account Manager - Aerospace and Defense

Your Mission

The Key Account Manager – Aerospace and Defense (KAM A&D) leads all activities for strategic customers to ensure long-term sales growth in the global Aerospace and Defense markets. The KAM A&D is expected to maintain a thorough and current knowledge of the customers, including their product and solution needs, primary initiatives, and strategic contacts.  In addition, the KAM A&D will maintain a complete and current knowledge of industry trends and opportunities. The KAM A&D consistently delivers annual sales and margin goals in the assigned markets.

How you will make a difference

  • Develop and lead global strategy for growing share and impact with assigned key accounts.  Deliver sales and margin targets – grow share and create value at each account. 
  • Monitor the position of key accounts in their respective markets, assess competitive threats through quantifiable comparisons.  Understand assigned key accounts and determine reasons for specifying and buying a particular solution.
  • Create and implement a pricing strategy for key accounts.  Negotiate multi-year deals or specific project contracts that reflect company value, required margins, terms and conditions.
  • Understand how assigned key accounts rate our company as a supplier and drive actions to improve where necessary and maintain best in market status.
  • Work with key accounts to uncover meaningful product development opportunities. Understand how key accounts service their customers in the aftermarket and develop a strategy to maximize aftermarket margins.
  • Gain cross-functional intercompany buy-in for strategies and action plans.

What you should be good at

  • Education – Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from four-year College or university in engineering, business, or comparable discipline is required; MBA is preferred.
  • Experience – 5+ years progressive sales or marketing experience is required. Direct experience working in the defense and/or aerospace industries is expected. Experience managing projects with the US Government is strongly preferred. 
  • Leadership – We need a leader in this role. A leader at Deublin is creative, curious, empathetic and resilient. A leader is accountable and holds others accountable. We need both the ability to strategically plan long term and execute actions short term. This role is results oriented.
  • Communication - Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, both in-person and remote are required. Presentation and public speaking skills are highly valued.  
  • Project Management – Act as the voice of the customer during projects and keep the internal team on track to meet the customer’s performance and delivery expectations.
  • Global Culture – Deublin is a global company. Awareness and sensitivity to local cultures, norms, and traditions is expected. Long-term strategies and short-term actions may be different depending on region. International travel may be necessary to fully understand these differences.
  • Technical Acumen – Engineering, mechanical or electrical background preferred. Ability to understand how components integrate into larger systems is expected. Willingness to learn engineering related topics is required.
