Product Engineer - Aerospace and Defense

Your Mission

We are growing our team to include a Product Engineer specializing in slip ring engineering to support the Aerospace and Defense industries.  The Product Engineer designs new products, improves existing products, manages new product development projects, and performs testing for qualification and proof of product integrity. 

 

How you will make a difference

  • Design and develop new products based on customer specifications, company and industry standards.
  • Interact effectively with Product Designers and Drafters to layout new designs and new product specifications.
  • Perform product analysis calculations relating to product design needs and new product orders.
  • Establish project objectives with manager, schedules and costs related to product quality, cost and performance and manage the project to meet customer milestones.
  • Communicate with customers on matters relating to product inquiries and new applications.
  • Develop and establish test methods and procedures for mechanical and electrical systems as assigned.
  • Analyze test results and prepare project reports with recommendations for company action.
  • Identify suppliers of new component parts to assist with design projects.
  • Build or assist manufacturing with prototype models and perform required testing to meet project needs.
  • Apply DFM/DFA to products as needed; prepare piece part drawings.
  • Analyze and determine possible failure modes and establish a project plan of action to effectively increase reliability.
  • Assist subsidiaries with technical questions.
  • Make sales calls with Sales representatives at customer sites.

What you should be good at

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical or mechanical engineering required.
  • Minimum of five years of experience working in the Aerospace or Defense industry preferred.
  • Writing reports, business correspondence, and proposals. Presenting information and responding to questions from colleagues, managers, and customers.
  • Working with mathematical concepts and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.   Converting between imperial and metric measurements.
  • Defining problems, collecting data, establishing facts and drawing valid conclusions.
  • Interpreting technical instructions and dealing with abstract and concrete variables.
  • Collaborating effectively within cross-functional teams.
  • Designing new products through use of CAD software, calculations, and testing.  Performing MTBF and FMEA calculations.
  • Reviewing and understanding aerospace and defense specifications and statements of work.
  • Managing customer requirements through a compliance matrix.

  • Compensation: This is a salaried exempt position with a pay range from $93,769 - $140,654 per year. Pay will be based on qualifications and experience.
  • Location: This role is based at the Deublin Company facility in Waukegan, IL. The role will be on site, with the opportunity to expand to 3 days onsite / up to 2 days remote work, based on performance, and following a 90-day introductory period.
  • Travel: 20% travel to customer or supplier sites with Sales representatives.
